. for most artists, it is a vacation and a life that they have committed themselves to. there is this notion that artists continue to do their work because of some kind of the external financial support. if that was taken away, artists would still do their art. it is not like there is a prerequisite for these things to happen or i will not do it. how could that be? it is the relationship that you have committed to. it is the vocation. no matter how difficult it gets, you are going to need to produce your art. whether it is a large scale or very small scale. the need to create is going to happen, and you are going to have to fulfill it because that is your life.

also included in this package of improvement and city project for the connector road a vacation of the northeastern portion of quint street. that is in the diagram, the red area. that area actually operates two areas of properties as they work to plan the relocation of those digesters. this package in the connector road project intends to really maximize that compatibility and facilitate that process that we've heard support for. finally, the purpose of this request is to really iron out some of those final questions and issues that the community has raised that we haven't been able to answer quite yet given the phase of design we're at. there are two pieces of recommendations. the first is to recommend support for cal train to proceed with design of their option one, the berm option for the bridge replacement. that includes allowing them to work with the schedules and coordination with the connector road project to make sure that we're able to minimize that gap enclosure. the second piece of this recommendation is to provide funding for the next phase of connector road design.

working through the pc you saw there and that vacated piece of property. the vacation of that northeastern portion of quint is more recent addition to the connector road project. it actually was added more recently. initially the option one, berm would have included the vacation of the piece of quint street, that is directly at the tracks in order to do the berm but that additional piece up on the northeast portion was added. the reason that was added is actually twofold, one, to facilitate potential staging of both projects concurrently. the berm or bridge replacement project and the connector road project. vacation of that area allows potentially more staging for both of those projects to happen together and minimize that gap in construction time closure. it also does facilitate the poc's master planning process. as i mentioned earlier, working with the poc as one partner in looking at what other funding options are available to reduce that prop k request or how the pc can be involved in this process moving forward. that is something we will plan to work with pc on and come back in the s

a drill every year. and in two 000 at on california and 2009 at ferry building and vacated it in the morning and when bart was going to strike and we were ready and ten on mid-market and this year two fire drills and the chief's wife is here and her team was spectacular and the they had two drills and i will show you a video in a minute. why do we do that? why do we have our member dos that? because we want to test that response plan because it's no good on paper unless you test it and we do that. we run drills and it takes about a drill to do, to plan. we work with the public sector agency and it was the fire department and next year alsolet fire department and we had drills with the police department swat and a day long drill and you name the emergency we probably planned for it, and i am not here to brag. i am here to tell you these drills help and we can't do that without the city and our members get the lessons from that drill. anyway i won't take too much more of your time. again i am honored to be here. this is a video of the drill and it's somewhat funny -- an

the two-unit building at 3478-3480 17th street, which is right around the corner and i was on vacation last week and when i came home from vacation there was a big stack of mail and i came upon a notice for this meeting and it was directed to one of my neighbors who i had never met until this evening. i looked at this and thought wow, that little cafe, i knew it had closed, but it's going to be converted to a restaurant with a big hood fan and venting out fumes? my bedroom is not very far from that. i live on the second floor and i have tenants on the first floor and i thought wow, i'm surprised i wasn't notified about this. i do get notices from the city and i read them and walk by the properties and have never been compelled to come here and speak to them about it because it was all reasonable. but in it case, it felt this doesn't really seem right to me. we weren't notified and from the things that i have heard tonight about the fire department issues i did not know that the vent was going by people's bedroom windows. no wonder they are alarmed. i would ask that you please reconside
